Osteopathic Therapy and ADHD

Craniosacral therapy offered at Elysian Health

What is Osteopathic therapy?

At Elysian, we look to address your chronic pain issues so you can reach the height of your health potential. Treating the body as a whole gives us the ability to stabilize global function, not just one small section of the body. Using a variety of techniques including Craniosacral therapy to address imbalances in the body, our therapists treat muscles, bones, joints and fascia through the soft tissues of the body to achieve and maintain structural balance and health.

Craniosacral therapy for ADHD

Craniosacral Therapy (CST) is a passive manipulation of the cranial bones and spinal cord, improving fluid dynamics and reducing tension or restriction in the Dura mater of the brain. (Dura mater of the brain is the thick outer layer of the 3 membranes surrounding your brain)

ADHD currently has no known singular cause and is known to be multi factorial in nature. There appears to be a combination of internal genetic factors and external influences.

How can craniosacral therapy (CST) be beneficial for children with ADHD?

Most children diagnosed with ADHD typically have issues falling asleep which negatively impacts behaviour the following day.

Medications are typically prescribed in order to manage symptoms but what if there was an alternative?

Adam had been successful in reducing wind-down times in adolescent children with ADHD with manual Craniosacral therapy. This provides a safe non-pharmaceutical alternative to improving sleep and attention disorders. The treatment itself is an hour and patients can expect benefits for up to 4 weeks.

Come book an appointment and see how we can manage symptoms, improve sleep and reduce anxiety in children with ADHD!

What else can be treated with Osteopathy?

Outside of the muscular system, Osteopathic Practitioners treat the skeletal system, and lymphatic systems, and perform craniosacral therapy. They can specifically treat the structures of a patient’s head to reduce stress and anxiety, improve sleep, assist with headaches, and much more including:

Pelvic floor and Organ treatment which is ideal for women experiencing chronic and severe menstrual symptoms such as headaches and back pain can expect relief from manual manipulation of the uterus or ovaries.
